Women In Film

"Dandelion Dharma," a Veronica DiPippo/Marc Aramian film, won the award for Audience Favorite Live Action Short at the 2009 Palm Springs International Shortfest.  The film, written and directed by WIF Member Veronica DiPippo, was a production of DiPippo's Crunch Entertainment. WIF Member Christine La Monte received credits as Producer and Executive Producer.  The 2009 Palm Springs International ShortFest & Short Film Market was held from June 23-29, and is the largest short film festival and market in North America.  315 short films screened throughout the Festival along with more than 2,200 filmmaker submissions available in the film market.  CLICK HERE to view the trailer.  Congratulations to Veronica and Christine!

Pamela Rodi, Executive Vice President of Marketing and Publicity for Myriad Pictures, spoke to a captive crowd on June 12 at Women In Film’s Malibu Networking Breakfast, held at the Chart House with a glorious crashing surf as a backdrop.  Women and men in the entertainment industry with a broad range of experiences  and specialties – from editing to post-production and music composition - attended to hear the fundamentals of marketing their own film and television projects, as well as positioning and marketing themselves for jobs and assignments.

The City of Beverly Hills, Mayor, Nancy Krasne,  presented  a "Certificate of Recognition" to WIF Member, Dr. Mombi Thairu, on behalf of the City Council  for her outstanding contribution to the city as she received  the “Philanthropic Spirit Award” from Jarvee Hutcherson, the President of  the Multicultural Motion Picture Association (MMPA).  Dr. Thairu is the President of RKE Sports & Entertainment, an international sports promotion, consulting, and management company focusing on marathons and soccer worldwide.

WIF Member, Dr. Mombi Thairu was appointed by Football Partnerships to be their Los Angeles Networking Captain. Football Partnerships which is headquartered in New York, is a top-level Business to Business (B2B) networking group and valuable resource for soccer industry professionals worldwide.  The community serves as a platform for the exchange of best practices and football business information.  Dr. Thairu becomes the first woman to be appointed by the organization.

WIF Foundation Trustee, Lynn Hirshfield, has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Publishing with Participant Media.  Hirshfield joined Participant Media in 2007.  She is the author of "Girls Gone Green," which was part of Participant's work in conjunction with Penguin and Puffin Books. Prior to joining the staff of Participant, she consulted for the company throughout 2006 on the social marketing and outreach for the Academy Award®-winning documentary "An Inconvenient Truth.”  Congratulations Lynn!
