The Women In Film International (WIFI) Committee, fosters an interactive, cultural bond with other countries by discovering, promoting and supporting the ideas and efforts of entertainment professionals, especially women, throughout the world.
WIFI programs include panels on co-production and legal affairs, hosted screenings, a short-subject film series, travel and social outings and participation in international film festivals. Networking doesn’t stop at our borders so WIFI serves as a resource for foreign consulates, film boards and visiting filmmakers.

WIFI SIGNATURE EVENTS
Each year A Focus on International Short Films will feature short films by filmmakers from different parts of the world. We will explore new cultures (e.g., Haiti, Indigenous People of the Americas, Palestian/Israeli, Korean etc.) and the role of their histories and communities in influencing artists and filmmaker.
For over the past 10 years the American Film Market has asked WIFI to produce a seminar during the film market. Each year the committee selects a topic that is relevant, trend setting and diverse to help understand the constant changes in the entertainment industry. The WIFI seminars are extremely popular and are generally sold out.
An ongoing legal series to understand entertainment related issues both domestically and internationally. This event is hosted at the law office of Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp LLP.
Recognizing the value of global exploration, WIFI will be screening films relating to the international community with an emphasis on films by and for women.
OUTREACH TO FILM FESTIVALS
WIFI looks to find opportunities in the various international film festivals right here in the Los Angeles area. This is our way to connect with the voices from other countries and the diverse communities living in our area. It is our way to support and promote the diversity of filmmakers all over the world.
AUDIENCE TESTING SERIES
This is an outreach program to support and strengthen ties with WIF chapters around the world. WIFI will provide opportunities for other WIF chapters to request an audience screening where a film can get constructive feedback from our committee. This is a way for chapters who do not have the expertise and resources of a bigger chapter like the Los Angeles chapter to build their filmmaking skills.
PANELS AND SEMINARS
WIFI will consider ideas to develop events and programs around topics that are relevant to international affairs and to any facet of the entertainment industry.
WIFI is comprised of work and fun! Our social events are for a chance for WIFI committee members to socialize and have a great time. We have an annual Holiday Party at a WIFI member’s home as well as potluck socials and other fun events and are open to other suggestions.
