WOMEN IN FILM CELEBRATES BLACK HISTORY MONTH 2013

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Los Angeles, CA. – February 7, 2013) Women In Film, Los Angeles (WIF), the leading non-profit organization dedicated to women in the global entertainment industry, will celebrate African American History with a discussion and breakfast event at the Malibu Charthouse in Malibu. Female producers, actors, and media makers in Los Angeles will attend. The breakfast is schedule for Friday, February 8th, from 8am to 10am at the Malibu Charthouse, 18412 Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu, California 90265.
This event follows last year’s breakfast with Filmmakers Julie Dash, Ava DuVernay and Emmy® broadcaster Tommy Hawkins. Director DuVernay, (“Middle of Nowhere”) directed this year’s speaker Emayatzy E. Corinealdi to an Independent Spirit Award® nomination for Best Actress in a Leading role.
“Every Year we celebrate our collective history at this event,” says Candace Bowen, Chair of Women In Film’s Black History Month, and President of Early Bird Productions, Inc. “We talk about our past and plan for the future. We recognize the accomplishments of African American trailblazers in the entertainment industry, and celebrate the achievements of a new generation of media makers. We are not afraid to look at the statistics of African American women working in the industry today. We look forward to discussing the state of gender parity In Hollywood and seeing how we can improve all the numbers.”The breakfast speakers will include:
