WIF and BMI Celebrate Women Composers

Broadcast Music, Inc. and Women In Film collaborated on an evening celebrating the Alliance of Women Film Composers on April 23 at BMI’s Los Angeles office. The event, which served to raise awareness and publicly celebrate female composers in the film industry, was co-hosted by BMI Vice President, Film/TV Relations, Doreen Ringer-Ross, and Women in Film Board member and music committee chair Tracy McKnight.

Sundance: Director Rory Kennedy Slams “Sexist” Hollywood At Women In Film Panel

Sundance-deadline-hollywood-2014“We live in a sexist world and Hollywood is at the heart of it,” said Rory Kennedy today at the Sundance Film Festival’s annual Women In Film panel. “The financing structure of Hollywood films is also part of the problem,” added fellow panelist Valerie Veatch, the director/producer of the HBO Docs film Love Child. “Women not playing nine rounds of golf stops us from having access to the money, to the hedge funds and the other financing,” she added.
