tina-gharavi-01The opera ain’t over even after the WIF Lady sings.  The Women In Film Foundation Film Finishing Fund (FFF) takes great pride in the success of our grantees.  Here is the final interview of the series.  We’ve revisited some of our past winners to discuss the life of an independent filmmaker in today’s digital world and to see what winning a grant meant for their film and for them.

This week we talk with Tina Gharavi the director of I Am Nasrine  which was part of our 2011 FFF Grant Cycle.  Producer and WIFF Trustee, Cathleen Summers conducted the interview.

After Tiller, WIF Grant Winner, is Honored ... again

 after-tiller-07After Tiller, winner of the Women In Film Documentary Grant at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival has gone on to win the Documentary Jury Award at the Sarasota Film Festival and Honorable Mention in the documentary competition fo the Nashville Film Festival.

We congratulate directors Martha Shane & Lana Wilson and the rest of the production team for their success.

'A River Changes Course' is Honored

a-river-changes-course-webKalyanee Mam' s A River Changes Course has garnered a number of awards since our "Women Who Dare!" Sundance panel back in January.

Kalyanne's film won the Grand Jury Prize of World Cinema Documentary at Sundance in 2013.

Since then the documentary has won:

  • The Human Rights Award at the River Run Festival
  • The Grand Jury Prize for Best Feature at the Environmental
    Film Festival at Yale
  • Selected as the opening night film of the season at the Film Society
    of Lincoln Center
  • The Center for Documentary Studies Filmmaker Award at the Full
    Frame Documentary Film Festival
  • The Grand Jury Prize for Best Documentary Feature Atlanta Film Festival
