Hannah Minghella has served as president of Production for Columbia Pictures since October 2010. In that role, Minghella works closely with Columbia Pictures president Doug Belgrad to oversee all aspects of development and production at the legendary motion picture label.
Her current projects include the latest James Bond adventure Skyfall; the animated film Hotel Transylvania; Captain Phillips, directed by Paul Greengrass and starring Tom Hanks; After Earth, starring Jaden Smith and Will Smith; and White House Down, directed by Roland Emmerich and starring Channing Tatum, among many other projects. She also recently oversaw the #1 hits 21 Jump Street, starring Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum; The Amazing Spider-Man, starring Andrew Garfield and directed by Marc Webb.
Minghella joined the company in 2005 as a director of creative affairs working in the office of the chairman of the Motion Picture Group under Sony Pictures Entertainment Co-Chair Amy Pascal. In that role, she collaborated closely with Belgrad on several projects, including the production of the highly successful James Bond film Casino Royale. In 2008, Minghella was named president of production of Sony Pictures Animation, and held that role for two years. During her tenure at SPA, Minghella oversaw the production of the live-action/animated hit The Smurfs and SPA’s CG-animated release Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. She also oversaw the development of Aardman’s Arthur Christmas and The Pirates! Band of Misfits and Sony Pictures Animation’s upcoming release Hotel Transylvania.
Prior to joining Sony, Minghella worked alongside director Steven Shainberg to help start Vox 3 Films, an independent production company in New York where she oversaw development. Before starting Vox 3 Films, Minghella spent four years at Miramax Films in New York, where she served as a creative executive for Meryl Poster. Poster and Bob Osher were co-presidents of production at the time.
Born in England, Minghella is one of the original co-founders of Stellar Network, a non-profit membership-based organization in the UK that provides resources and support to film, theater, and television professionals.
